Edward D. Segen & Co. was founded in 1965, building thermoform tooling for the rapidly growing plastics industry. Today, over three decade’s later; Segen’s innovations have paved the way to profit for many Fortune 500 companies. From plastics and packaging to metalworking, the Edward D. Segen & Co. has built a reputation for innovation and quality.

1965   Pattern Making and Sand Cast Aluminum where the skills of the day for building plated mounted vacuum forming molds.

1970   Our Aluminum Foundry used cutting edge Plaster Casting technology to manufacture, accurate multiple cavity molds.

1978   Among the first, in the industry, to use CNC, Numerical Control to precisely machine matched molds to form Polystyrene foam sheet, including , egg cartons , hamburger packs, and meat tray molds.

1979   Wire EDM equipment is used to manufacture large one piece die plates, providing accurate and economical manufacture of trim tooling for roll fed trim presses.

1988   Quick-change “Cylinder Locks” are invented. A fail-safe, quick-change devise to locate and lock tooling on machine platens. Lock is rated at 2,000 lbs. holding force and operates with standard (70 psi) shop air.

1994   VTP-15, (Vertical Trim Press) was introduced as an efficient and flexible trim press designed to trim thermoformed parts using, Punch & Die, High Die Knife, or Steel Rule Knife tooling.

1998   Mini “Cylinder Locks” Smaller version of our standard Cylinder Lock, Mini locks are used to quickly change tool components through out a wide range of industries. Rated at 1,000 lbs. holding

1998   Universal Pressure Box, Our patented design adjusts in both index direction and across the web, used to pressure form plastic sheet, on roll fed thermoformers. One box virtually adjusts to fits all mold forming areas.

1999   Titan Sheet Clamps, Patented gas spring design, clamps hot plastic sheet across tool providing even sheet distribution. Saving time and money for custom job shop thermoformers, or anyone who builds tooling.

2001   Quick-Change Pallet Chuck, Palletizes stock for CNC milling. Pallet chuck provides speed and flexibly for the Metalworking Industry.

2002   Micro “Cylinder Locks” Smallest quick-change locate & locks yet. Used in a number of industries, replacing bolts and dowels on a variety of applications where component change over time is critical. Rated at 500 lbs. holding.
